Farewell 2013

Last Year, I said farewell to 2012 through my favorite pictures.

Once again, I have chosen one picture from each month, with an explanation about why each is significant. I should note that most are “favorites” for the memories they stir up, not for composition. By far the best part about this project is combing through all of the pictures I’ve taken over the last year.  I lost track of so many of them!  Enjoy!

 JANUARY

The Man and I spent a night away in Lake George for our 5th Anniversary. It was sorely needed – one of our first date nights since Viv was born.

What I loved about the 6-9 month stage was the cuddle-nap times. Viv LOVED taking snoozes in our bed, and I was not one to say no.

MARCH

IMG_5699_Edit_

Excuse my barefooted baby outside in the end of March, but it was pretty warm those days.

APRIL

I had a Court appearance for work in Elmira, where my parents are from, and where my grandparents still live.  So my Dad came with me and Viv, so she could spend some time with her great-grandparents while I worked. This was one of the outtakes of the family pictures we took. I love how my Pop Pop is playing with Viv and how Mema is smiling, looking on.

Ok. hear me out.  I went to the bank one day and got this $20 from the ATM.  I laughed. and laughed. and laughed and laughed.  I hadn’t laughed at something so stupid and silly in a long time and it felt amazing.  And no. I didn’t call (though I was tempted…)

JUNE

BIRTHDAY PARTY CAKE FACE! what more could be said?  Except the fact that we really weren’t equipped to clean that up….

JULY

IMG_4433_edit

Baby #2 is coming! I had been feeling off, so when I came home from work hopped up on baby fumes from reading all about the new baby Prince George, I figured why not? Good to know I’m in tune with my body! ha

AUGUST

Another week at Keuka Lake.  Our families didn’t know we were expecting again, though in retrospect, they all wondered why I would take 3 hour naps with Viv in the middle of the day.  Thankfully I hadn’t started to feel sick yet – just tired.

SEPTEMBER

Around when Viv turned 14 months, she started really playing with Luke and Lacey. before, she was a little unstable crawling and walking, and they didn’t love the sudden movements. and the ear pulling.  This is when she started to get “gentle” and the pups loved it.

OCTOBER

andria rob's wedding

My friends Andria and Rob got married. There was a photobooth. That’s all I have to say about that.

NOVEMBER

I took this with my iPhone while Viv and Lacey were cuddling/playing in her bedroom.  Can you tell that they were not pleased with my requests that they look at me for a picture?

DECEMBER

Christmas morning. I can’t get over that look of utter amazement.  She was either yelling “DOC” or “WOW”. Either way, it’s pretty awesome.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a safe and Happy New Year! See you in 2014!

Lauren + Russ

A recently was a guest at the happy occasion of the marriage of my friends Lauren and Russ.  You could not find a couple better suited for each other.  They started dating in college about ten years ago, and through moves and school and new businesses, they finally pulled the trigger!

The ceremony and reception was held at the Old Daley Inn on Crooked Lake. Despite having driven by the location many times (back when it was known as the Crooked Lake House), I never had occasion to go.  This place is beautiful. absolutely stunning.  and not only that, Lauren & Russ had the PERFECT day for an outdoor wedding.

The ceremony was held on a small patio on the edge of the lake, with a few trees for shade, and a beautiful view behind them.  I honestly cannot wait to see the professional wedding pictures, because the sun was hitting them and the wedding party in such a way that it looked like they all had halos.

The cocktail hour was full of awesome food – sure they had the standard crudité, but they also had eggplant lasagna, a retro food station, with chicken tenders, mac n cheese, mozzarella sticks and pigs in a blanket, and tons of yummy passed hor d’oeurves.  I think I polished off three plates.  We also took a picture with the beautiful bride!

The dinner settings were beautiful.  Not a detail overlooked! I loved the trees with Christmas lights and the windows all around the room. Fotor0822145039

There was a beautiful deck for pictures, which we naturally took advantage of.

All in all, a perfect wedding for one of the best couples I know!

The Wedding

Here is the highlight reel from our wedding.  After almost five years of marriage, I finally figured out (with the help of the internet and facebook friends) how to rip my wedding DVD onto my computer.  I would much rather watch a few minutes of highlights than two hours of wedding video!

The Fifth of January

Five Years. Sixty Months. One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty-Six Days.

On Saturday the fifth of January, two-thousand and eight, The Man and I joined together as Husband and Wife in front of God, the Church, our family, and our friends.  It was the best day.

Farewell 2012!

Robin over at Farewell Stranger has invited the blogging community to say farewell to 2012 through their favorite pictures.

I have chosen one picture from each month, with an explanation about why each is significant. I should note that most are “favorites” for the memories they stir up, not for composition. It was so so hard to pick the best moments of 2012, but I loved having the chance to revisit some photos and memories that had slipped my mind.  Enjoy!

 JANUARY

January 2012

These are my dear friends Jess and Gavin holding our other friends Molly and Sam’s daughter Liddy. A large group of us decided to go to an Albany Devils Hockey game, and got group seating right on the ice. Liddy was the first baby of our law school friends, and everyone had to take a turn cuddling her. I love how the happy face Jess is making as she looks at Liddy.  And Gavin’s facial expression is his trademark.

FEBRUARY

February 2012

Luke and Lacey are my heart. Even though they have managed to ruin almost every piece of furniture in our house, we still can’t resist having them lie on the sofa with (or without) us. They’re the best of friends.

MARCH

March 2012

When I was 6 months along, I finally felt pregnant enough to jutify parking in expetant mother’s spots at Buy Buy Baby, but not too pregnant to be uncomfortable. It was glorious.

APRIL

April 2012

Every night, Luke would lie next to me on the sofa, and put his head on my stomach.  I think he heard the baby’s heatbeat. Please also note Lacey’s photobomb.

MAY

May 2012

What Baby Lafe’s room looked like mere moments after unloading the gifts from our first baby shower. I thought baby had a lot of stuff then, but that’s nothing compared to now!

JUNE
June 2012

In June, I was tired, big, and my pants were feeling tight. I had an apperance at Albany County Supreme Court for a very long settlement conference with another attorney from my office. I stopped in the bathroom, and saw this taped to the mirror. It was a lovely surprise.

JULY

July 2012

Miss Vivian Eleanor’s first day with us. We had just moved from the delivery room to our postpartum room, and took this picture of her as she was lying on my chest, skin to skin. My heart bursts just thinking of her little breaths and fluttering eyelids.

AUGUST

August 2012

We spent a few days at Keuka Lake with family.  Vivian was just beginning to sleep through the night, and we had begun to figure each other out.  I look at this picture and remember it as such a very happy time. But it was also the beginning of a difficult time.

SEPTEMBER

September 2012

Viv and my first sleepover without The Man. We went to Rochester for my cousin’s wedding, and The Man followed the next morning. Viv and I were playing in the hotel room and I captured this picture of us on my iphone. I remember being amazed at how big she looked, and now I can’t believe she was ever that small!

OCTOBER

October 2012

Candid pictures are my favorite.  I so rarely have candid pictures of myself, since I’m usually behind the camera.   The look of joy on The Man and my faces says it all.  Vivian was quiet and peaceful during her baptism, and Father Yanas was beaming when he welcomed her into the Church.

I was getting Vivian dressed to go to Grandma’s for the day, and had to set her down on the cocktail table to get her hat on.  Luke and Lacey hopped over and started sniffing her “new” hat. Her face totally captures what I imagine her thinking: “what the….”

DECEMBER

_MG_4953edit

My sweet darling on Christmas. December was a hard month for me. There were so many beautiful pictures of Vivian from December, but when I see many, I remember how broken I felt.  Christmas was joyful and wonderful and happy. The look of wonder on her face brings me peace.

What a whirlwind 2012 was. The highs were the highest, and with that, the lows were the lowest.  I am going into 2013 with new goals, strategies, and a heart fuller than it has ever been.  Here’s to the next year!

Ain’t no wedding like a Holleran Wedding…

…cause a Holleran Wedding don’t stop!

Bill and Christi got married on Saturday September 15, 2012 in Penfield, New York!!

The second most exciting thing that happened, after the marriage (of course!) was seeing Aunt Maureen looking beautiful and so happy! As many of you know, Maureen suffered a stroke about a month ago, and is recovering beautifully!
